R1100GS clutch adjust

Hi,

After 20 years of admiration I finally got an R1100GS.

Love it!

One question to the experts out there (as I can't seem to find reliable info googling it...): when in central stand and in neutral is the back wheel supposed to spin?

Mine does... I can't stop it by hand, but it makes a certain torque nonetheless...

A bit puzzled...

Thx for help!

Hello

No it shouldn't spin. What happens if you press the rear brake? Does the engine then struggle? If yes, it would indicate that your clutch doesnt disengage properly.

Neutral, clutch engaged and motor running?

Yes it's common and has nothing to do with the clutch.

Yep, as AliBaba said - nothing to do with clutch.

In neutral the crank output to gearbox input rotatates the input shaft in the gearbox, without gear engaged it rotates free together with intermediate shaft but aided with a thick transmission oil (viscosity) a little of this oil friction torque goes into the output shaft - hence little turning your rear wheel, especially noticable with the cold engine when the oils are still thick.

As of clutch, it's as with any clutch - make sure you have sufficent slack on the cable or you'll wear out your clutch too fast.
