The Surefoot stand works well for shorter riders, as it is connected to the stand further back, and is therefore easier to reach. I couldn't use the original stand, and i'm average height. I think Motorworks sell then. CW Motorcycles fitted mine when i bought my R100gs pd from them.

welded a 5 1/2 in triangled shaped thin steel piece to my side stand . It is still a pain to deploy, lifting the footpeg out of the way, but at least I don't feel like I'm going to fall off the bike getting it in position. It was a quick and simple fix and inexpensive fix.

I have just ordered a sidestand from Carl: sidestands

It seems to be one of the best system available: positionned correctly, bike is not leaning too much, large stand plate at the bottom, bolt-on (instead of welded), stay deployed and you can move the sidestand up and down even with the center-stand in the up position. I'll post some pics when I receive it and let you know.
