Measurements for shipping.

Does anyone have (off the top of their head) the measurements required for a shipping quotation for a 2001 R1150GS?

Things like height (with/without screen), width, length and a realistic weight assesment with minimal fuel in it. i.e. not "sales brochure weight".

Thanks.

Measurements will vary - depending on how energetic you are. Best shipping price is always with the smallest possible package - bikes are too light for their volume, so it's important to get the volume down.

So are you interested in taking off the handlebars and front wheel? Or just the windshield and mirrors?

I can be energetic if it saves money! Thanks for replying, Grant. Is there a special technique to crating a bike with the front wheel off?

Check out what Chris and Erin Ratay did

Basically if you have the time, you construct an axle of sorts to the bottom of your crate and attach the forks there as if it was a wheel. Then strap down front and rear as per norm.

Helps a lot to use the original BMW crates as a starter I found personally, although I didnĀ“t take off the front wheel....

Cheers

Jeremy
