Key stuck in seat lock R1200GS

Cannot get key out of seat lock in my 2015 BMW R1200GS.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you and best regards,

Can you get the seat off ??? Does the barrel turn ?

I've seen this a few times. Generally the barrel is faulty and needs replacing.

Check your key incase it is bent or deformed etc.

To get it out you will have to be brutal. Keep twisting, turning and pulling.

In work, we have had to force it !!

Have you tried a gentle tap back in and then pull out

Based on R1150 experience, not R1200: There should be a small access hole which enables removal of the barrel when the key is in the lock.

Insert a paper-clip to depress the retaining tab/wafer and pull on the key. The entire barrel should come out. Beware of losing the wafers or little springs.

I mis-read the model year and didn't register it was the new LC. Not sure if my previous post is really relevant now.
After an internet search it seems a common problem is the lock mechanism not the barrel. This thread on advrider may help.

Thanks to all who were kind enough to make suggestions on how to remove my jammed key. Result: I was able to somehow get the passenger seat off and with a flashlight, peer beneath the driver's seat. It seems of the two black plastic tabs to actually lock the seat in place, one was jammed in the lock position and the other, in the open position.
With a bit of maneuvering, I was able to free up the jammed plastic tab and lift the seat up and the key was immediately freed up, enabling me to just pull it out.
Thanks again for the suggestions. All is good.
