Identify this R80G/S petrol tank for me
I am looking for confirmation of the identity of this oversize tank from my '83 R80G/S. I am fairly certain it is a Heinrich, it came with the bike from the original owner who told me that is what it is, I just want to be certain before putting it on ebay, the tank not the bike that is.

I had a Heinrich tank many years ago, and it certainly had the same kind of shape.

The Heinrich finish was way better than that, those balance tubes look like they were riveted on. Rough guess is that its a home made job using a tank and adding panels to increase size and then using bog to shape and smooth the tank. Easy test is to find a weak magnet and see if it will stick all over the tank - the magnet wont stick to the areas that have been filled with bog.
I think that Heinrich also had a stamped serial/part number near the front mount. |

Google to the rescue, it is a Heinrich 208 model, suitable for monolever R80G/S and ST. Here is one I found for sale but couldn't find a price, my one will be on ebay in a week or two, I will mention it in parts for sale when it is up.

I think it's a Heinrich replica made in India, there was a batch available on E bay a while back. How many litres is it?
|
it is about 40 litres, perhaps a little more and I got it from the original owner who bought it new in 1983 and used it for a RTW trip, it came with the bike which has the original tank back on it.

Just to ad a bit to the converstion; I also think it is in the style of Heinrich .
