Fairing phone mount for BMW G650GS or other phone mounts

Hello,

I've recently bought a BMW G650GS, and i was wondering if anyone could offer any advice on which phone mount is good for this bike? I'd prefer to have it mounted on the fairing, but also open to having it mounted on the handlebar or tank bag.

Something like this: https://www.louis-moto.co.uk/artikel...umber=10012247

Cheers,
Ankur

In hot direct sunlight the phone will overheat and shut itself off.

Perhaps the mount you have linked will not be quite so susceptible to this if the phone is mounted upright?

Aha! I had a feeling that I didn't think about something, direct sunlight! Hmm, so i guess i'd need a case too which sits on the mount?

I am now torn about fitting a GPS to my bike after listening to Adventure Rider Radio and the 7 tips podcast where someone related the sight they had of a guy riding up and stopping in the middle of a town. He proceeded to tap things into their GPS unit and ignoring the other traveller that was sat watching them - not because he was rude, he was just fixated on the GPS unit. That was a good advert for a map as that brings locals around to help you. The opportunity to meet people has got to be a major part of the reason for travelling surely? I may take one as back up though - yes I am a hypocrite!

Yes! I heard the same podcast yesterday in fact. I was also at the MCN London motorcycle show where Sam Manicom mentioned that he doesn't rely on GPS devices. Maybe i should leave the phone in the pocket and stop in a safe place when i'm truly lost :)

In scenarios when i'm not on an adventure, it would be nice to have a phone mount.

Sam Manicom, that’s the fella! I think your position is where I am likely to end up - phone in the pocket, map first choice, locals second and GPS if all else fails or time is running out (but do it out of sight of the locals!)

This has to be one of the friendliest forum i've ever been on!

Ok, sounds like i don't need a GPS mount .

Thanks! :)
