Now you know why I so strongly recommend swapping the bings for some real carbs -;)

Put the bings up on e-bay and/or other sites. You should be able to get them sold fairly quickly.

Albert I have not had the chance to do any mileage, I need to get the bike insured,taxed etc. But hopefully when I locate a decent insurance quote I will have her on the road after buying it 4 years ago, what with all the upgrades it has taken too long.
I will let you know soon what I will be getting to the English gallon.

Having just spent a whole day stripping carbs, checking electrics and other bits and pieces the eratic tickover and running on a friends R80GS turned out to be nothing more that a blocked breather on the petrol filler cap of his Acerbis tank, doh!
