I also find when standing on pegs that hitting a pot hole or anything that makes the suspension compress my feet wack the stands, which I guess would be the same as an 1150 GS
I leave the off roading to my XR4

Sounds to me like your suspension is either shot or set way too soft. Mine started doing that after about 65000km but before - it never bottomed out. I have replaced it with Ohlins and that is a huge improvement on and off road.

Cheers will have a check, I dont think it bottoms out I just think it the location of the centre and side stand when stowed and the position of my feet. I also wonder if it will be worse when I get some fastway footpegs which are lower than standard.

I have fastaways on mine :thumbup1: great pegs - very stable. I'd just try winding up your suspension .

The big knob on the rear is the prelaod. On my 1100 there is a screw at the bottom which you can reach with a long screwdriver for adjusting the damping. On the front it's only the preload that can be adjusted . I'd start by winding preload up to max and then back 3 or 5 turns and damping screw all the way in and then out 1/2 a turn . Make a note where you started from so you can always set it back to where you were. The preload on the front depends on how the back is set but I have mine set in the middle and it works for me. Don't forget , we aren't dealing with a precision racing suspension set up - all we want is stability and some cushioning over the potholes :mchappy:
