BMW R100 Brake Cylinder
Hi all!
We're on our way through Canada, currently in New Brunswick. We travel with a BMW R100RT with a Ural Sidecar attached. The Bike is from '82. Here comes the tricky part: We have a leaking front brake cylinder. It's not leaking much, but the brake fluid makes a mess while driving. We've been at the BMW Dealer in Moncton, they sent us to Adriaan's Cycle. Adriaan was very helpful and friendly, great mechanic! We found out that the repair kit has a brake cylinder with 15mm diameter. But our bike needs a brake cylinder with 16mm diameter. And they don't produce them any more. So we would need to have the whole front brake changed. That would cost 370 CAD and the parts would need two weeks to be shipped. Does somebody know where we could find a 15mm diameter brake cylinder for a '82 R100RT in the region of Quebeq or Ontario? Thanks in advance for any suggestion! I hope I've expressed the problem well! Fredi |

They ship anywhere. Costs £56.40. John |
Hi John!
Thanks for the hint! We will try this one. Hope it will fix our leakage. Fredi |
Hi all,
motobins.co.uk worked flawlessly. Their customer service was very helpful and fast in replying. The parts arrived and fitted perfectly. The brakes aren't leaking anymore! Thanks for your help! Fredi |
Just about any master cylinder will work that you can get bolted up. Sometimes if you just take it apart and remove the O-rings, clean out the groves and put it back together it solves the problem.

Hi juanvaldez650,
thanks for the hint. We tried that first, but the inner O-Ring was scraggly (i hope that's the right word). Would have saved us a lot of money otherwise! Fredi |
