Hi
I have a service manual in pdf format. At 50Mb zipped a bit too big for email. Maybe you can locate it online to download. If not, PM me an email address and I can extract a few relevant pages. Or you can find a lot of info on UKGSer and advrider websites. A few words of caution: Exhaust header studs prone to seizing - and snapping. Loosen gently and apply anti-seize. Don't worry if you lose one; probably won't leak Nuts on fuel tank aperture (for filter access) easily overtightened causing a stud to snap. Check throttle position sensor voltage readings. Aids smooth running Get a proper oil filter removal tool Change the clutch fluid Clean the calipers - especially rear. (I don't mean strip them!) |
A few more words of caution...
If you go on to UKGSer.. DO NOT ask 'What Oil to Use' :nono: you will get ripped apart.. They're funny like that.. |
BMW R FAQ
One of the best resources available, IMHO. I have an '02 1150GS and don't think I'll ever sell it. One of the best bikes ever made. |
Bmw r1150gsa
Hi Monkey Boy!
I have a 2005 1150gsa, I've done 150,000 miles and its just had its first clutch replacement along with the rear shock & shaft drive rebuilt. Most of those miles were two up & Loaded, the usual problem with them all seams to be the bevel drive bearing, I went through five, in those miles, not too bad realy! 10W40 semi synthetic engine oil for UK works well, but she's worked on palm oil!!! a great bike enjoy. couple of more questions
what is the plastic triangle piece in the factory tool box used for ? is the black rubber piece on the adventure model only to suit the adventure model or will it fit the gs model ? and is this a 02 adventure model bike ? and what makes it different ? http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...ps95819ae4.jpg http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...ps9e044169.jpg |
Yeah, that looks like an adventure model, although they usually come with a front wheel:cool4:
Adventure model has the bigger 8 gal gas tank, bit taller suspension, and slightly different gearing in 1st and 6th gear. If the black rubber piece you are talking about is the beak extension, then yes it will fit on a regular GS beak with some extra screws and a few holes. |
does anyone know if any of the parts on the crashed bike are transferable to the other bike like seat, engine, pannier racks, etc any help would be appreciated
