Beefing up Dakar sound?
Hi All
Might be a sensative subject for some BMW owners - i know they try and make the bikes quiet... But i miss the throaty rounds coming from a single cylinder thumber. Anything that can be done to change this abit? I like the looks of the "double exhaust" so would prefer not to change that? Any ideas?? Thanx |
Sensitive subject ??? You're not kidding, my Dakar sounds like a lawn mower.
The Staintune exhaust makes it sound a lot better, especially if you take the baffles out ;-) I really must get one. ------------------ Last seen in S.America, missing presumed fed. http://www.smellybiker.com |
Check out Adventure Motorcycle Equipment - a HU advertiser - make special exhaust system for F650GS

When i lost a pipe off my R65 in India i got a couple of second hand Enfield pipes and made them fit with a hacksaw and a hammer. The sound is awesome.

You can take the baffle out with a little work...

Supertrapp
I saw a Supertrapp exhaust on a guys Dakar recently. It sounded ace(you can change the sound to suit your ear!) .
It was only a single can system BUT it comes with a dummy can for the other side which is actually a really handy storage tube...........genius I think it was pretty pricey though |
well what you probably saw was the "adventure motorcycle equipment" system that without the dumy exhaust cost about 400$ and it is a presure on which you can change the back pressure and the sound by adding/removing discs of the back silencer, from what i inquired it was one of the cheeper aftermarket exhaust systems for the f650 ...

There are some audio clips on the xrv.org.uk wiki, that you may want to listen to. OK they're of an Africa Twin, but you'll hear the difference between a standard exhaust and the remus with the baffle in, and out.
