Additional lights for R1200GS
 

I am looking at buying the BMW additional lighting set (often seen on the adventure model) from the local dealer. I was quoted £350 fitted (not wunderleich or touratech) as a special deal. I was wondering if anyone has found a good source of comparable lights which are easy enough for a novice to install

Forget the BMW ones. They're sh*te

Get a set of LED Rigid Industry ones from Zen Overland. Easy to fit if you are half handy.

Just fitted a set of LED lights onto my bike, about £25 for 30W Cree lights on ebay, and another £20 for a pre-made electrical harness also off ebay, plus bits and pieces so about £50. May not be as "adventurised" or as cool as the BM ones, but my bank manager will be happier.

Some crimping etc required, so no way were they plug and play, which the BM ones almost certainly will be. One oddity when I had a 1200 GSA was that the auxiliary lights were fused, unlike the rest of the bike which had the re-setable circuit breakers.

Or get Ted to fit them as I did :thumbup1:

I must admit, it did cost me a couple of beerto get them fitted, bloody well worth it though.

For similar money you can't get much better than Clearwater LED lights:

They're certainly not cheap but they are pretty much the best LED lighting currently out there. They are also a plug and play system meaning the fitting should be quite straight forward.

The other clever thing about these is that they come with a small dimmer knob, mountable onto your handlebar. You can then dial them down during the day to make you more visible to dozy drivers, crank them up a bit at night, and the cleverest bit is that they plug into your high beam light via a ready made plug. So every time you either flash your lights or put your high beam on they automatically crank up up to full power regardless of what light setting you had them dimmed to. :thumbup1:
