2005 R1200GS gearbox bearing numbers?
 

Hi,

Has anyone opened R1200GS gearbox and changed bearings?
I can find BMW numbers from MaxBMW fische, but I am looking bearing manufacturer part numbers.

At the moment I am in Peru (tomorrow in Cusco).

If a bearing is supplied by BMW it will only have a BMW part number.

If you want Non-genuine bearings then you just need the sizes and the type.

Internal diameter, external diameter, depth and bearing type (Roller ball, taper, needle etc).

I've done a few 1200GS gearbox rebuilds. You will also need oil seals. And typically like BMW you need specialist seal drivers to seat the seals EXACTLY the correct depth or they will snag and leak.

May I ask what is leading you to change your gearbox bearings ??

Tomorrow I will be in Cusco, Peru and there is no BMW shop. So that is the reason why I was asking bearing manufacturer numbers (BMW does not make bearings, they use something like SKF etc bearings and just give their own numbers for these.
I have all the seals (bought them just in case) :)

Reason why I am looking to replace (some) bearings is that my bike has over 320 000km and gearbox has started to sound like a car when using reverse gear...

As a closure to this message:

I was allowed to work with my bike in Honda shop.
Split the bike, opened the gearbox and replaced four bearings (input- and output shaft) and all seals.
It was an easy job and now my gearbox is smoother and totally quiet :clap:
