1998 Funduro

I happened to chance upon a decent '98 funduro here in India. Planning on picking it up but was wondering what to check for before saying yes.
2nd owner but only 8300kms (5200 miles) on it. The bike looks fine cosmetically (saw pictures of the bike). Planning on a round the world using this bike next year.

Any help here would be much appreciated.

Read up on the water pump and reg_rec issues. Inspect the forks for cracks.

I had a walk in the desert courtesy of the chocolate fireguard design principles and corner cutting employed by Aprillia and the Bavarian overlords and would buy a nice reliable Enfield instead, but you pay your money and take your choice.

Enjoy your ride.

Andy man

if you ask me about the enfields i would have said the same. I Might also have ended saying, i'd rather buy a f650 ;)

I do have an enfield right now, but i dont think i can do a round the world trip on one. What say

I had a bullet after the Spaghetti Beemer. I'd take my chances on one RTW, at least they are simple and are missing the whole water cooler mess.

They actually share a problem. The F650 chain is the right size for a Japanese 250 while the Bullets OE one is just ****!

i get what you are saying. I went riding in Ladakh and Spiti (really bad terrains) on my enfield and it did not disappoint me but the torque!!! :nono:

I do not want to repeat similar experience when i am on my rtw. Also once you cross the 80kmph mark the vibrations on the enfield go over the top. But in a country like india, enfields can be called reliable.
