1000cc LIGHTWEIGHT PISTON AND BARREL KIT

I Just came across this kit on the Motorworks website. Does anybody have any experience with this stuff?

1000cc LIGHTWEIGHT PISTON AND BARREL KIT | ENA37253

Designed by a German tuning specialist we now stock these barrel and piston sets providing an increase in power and torque for any of the 1000cc boxer models. Ideally suited to the later paralever models, this easily fitted kit gives a power output up to 67hp. The forged pistons are 130g lighter than the original pistons and run a compression ratio of 9:5:1. Supplied with stainless steel pushrod tubes fitted. A top end gasket set is available separately.

There are a few questions that spring up in my mind:

What does it do to the reliability of the bike? How about service intervals and general wear? (mine is a 1990 R100GS)

On the other side, what benefits do you really get? more power? Better fuel consumption?

Can you still double plug the bike?

Any advice would be great!

Cheers,

Jens

Jens,

This probably is the Power Kit that Siebenrock.com (German) offers for about 700 euro's.

Ik gives more power, Siebenrock says:
Replacement Kit R100
from 1981 on

More power and torque for all types of R 100 (since 1981) in the complete range of the numbers of revolutions.
Less exhaust fumes and lower fuel consumption. The forged pistons are about 110 g lighter than the originals. With a compression of 9,5:1, the power and torque are extremely increased. For instance, the motor power of a R 100 GS or R 100 R goes up to 67 hp. With improved power and torque curves, more driving fun is guaranteed.
For a rebuilt you don't need any cylinder head work! Only the piston and the cylinder are exchanged. The cylinders are covered with Nisic, the piston, covered with molybdane.
The complete set for rebuilding is 2 cylinders, 2 pistons, 2 gudgeon pins, 4 lock rings, 6 piston rings. If your old components are still okay, we'll take them in part-exchange.

It's best combined with the double plug.

I have tried it, and combined with the double plug and special Camshaft your bike drives smoother and more power and good reaction of the throttle over the entire rpm range.

Also available for the BMW R80's. The kit is reliable and tested.

Even better is the BigBore 1098 kit, but more expensive (1750 euro's)

Also there's HPN kit - it should be the most powerful one according to their specifications. There's a torque curve comparision with other makes. HPN kit makes 75hp.

Titanium conrods also available from them. I guess if both installed the old airhead will rev like a real HPN boxer racer.
