Horizons Unlimited - The HUBB - Selling my refurbished DR350 in Medellín (March’23)

I’ll sell my newly refurbished DR350R around 1st March 2023 in Medellin. If you are looking for a reliable and sturdy bike that gets you anywhere, this is it. It’s not easy to get your hands on this model here in Colombia as they sell very quickly on Facebook marketplace, Mercadolibre, etc. I’m not interested in making any profit, but looking for a fellow traveller who appreciates this legendary travel companion. Asking price will be less than 2,000 USD if no additional considerable investments are popping up in the next month.

The bike has been overhauled by a trustworthy Suzuki DR mechanic here in Medellín who also helped me with the transfer and paperwork. Happy to provide the contact when interested (won’t provide details publicly without his permission, though; PM only).

Recent changes to the bike: carburetor thoroughly cleaned, re-jetted and adjusted; ignition coil fixed; new tires; new oil filter (including replacement of all o-rings); new mirrors; new brake fluid; new spokes at rear tyre.

Inspections: clutch plates are in very good condition; rear and fork springs in good condition as well; electrical system thoroughly tested and connections cleaned;

Recommended changes if you buy the bike (depending on travel plans): Acerbis tank with more volume, bigger luggage rack, USB charging port

A few words about the Suzuki DR series: many seasoned travelers consider the DR350 the ultimate adventure bike. Having ridden the exact same model (Suzuki DR350 R, ‘93) all the way from Austria to India a few years back, I wholeheartedly agree. It’s the perfect mix of off-road and on-road capabilities. It’s super light (113kg dry weight) and has sufficient power to get you over any mountain pass. Almost anything that breaks can be fixed on the spot or by a random mechanic in the next village. Spare parts are ubiquitously available (especially in Colombia). Currently the bike has 70k+ kms on the clock, but that isn’t a problem (My mechanic’s verdict: “the bike has perfect mechanics but bad aesthetics” - I would disagree with the latter but that might be due to my aversion of spotlessly clean enduro bikes)

I was initially considering to buy a DR650 here in Colombia (as that’s the model I’m currently riding back home), but didn’t do so for a few reasons: price (considerably more expensive), weight (if need be, you can always pay someone $20 to put the DR350 in the back of their car and get it to the next mechanic; that’s much harder with the DR650); theft (according to locals the DR650 is one of the most stolen bikes in Colombia; whereas no one really bats an eye for a DR350; tip: I’d even refrain from polishing the plastic covers and installing shiny parts not to attract attention)

SOAT and Tecno Mecanica are due in April; all taxes paid up to date; I’m happy to also pass on all my tools / spare parts for maintenance and quick fixes as well as the bikes manual (pdf) and whatever piece of advise I can give you
