Wire Wheel

Hi Guys,

I urgently require a front or pair of wire wheels for a R1200GS to continue a ride through Africa. Has anyone any ideas of how to get a set or the front? BMW don't have anything is stock at all in Australia.

Any help would be apprieciated.

Cheers
Ivan

Has the rim gone or the spokes? If you can get the spokes you need and/rim if required, then it can be relaced anywhere in africa for about £2 a wheel(because the hub is on your bike, of course) We had a CCM break a rim.. so called:

Hagon Products
7 Roebuck Road, Hainault Industrial Estate
Hainault, Essex IG6 3JH
Telephone: +44 (0)208 502 6222
Fax: +44 (0)208 502 6274
E-Mail: sales@hagon-shocks.co.uk

or

Central Wheel Components Limited
Wheel House
8 & 9 Station Road
Coleshill
Birmingham B46 1HT
01675 462264

They will find a spokes/and a rim and arrange for couriers, like DHL (thieving bastards - maybe find someone else) for example, who will send it to the airport or capital city of the country you are in. Should turn it around in a week to most places in Africa - DHL Brazzaville was one best as it happens for service and low tax!

Good advice, the great thing about wire wheels are that the hub is the only specific bit. The hub itself is virtually impossible to damage as it is way stronger than the spokes and bearings. Unless of course someone has stolen your wheels.....

You could also get any old wheel and have some spacers machined up, oh no wait, thats a shaft-driven bike isn't it???? Or swap it for a tractor/donkey....

Alloy's

Sorry guys,

The bike has alloys on it. That was all I could purchase it with in the Mid east where I bought it. SO that is why I require the wire wheels.

Cheers

Thanks guys, anyone from SA want some GS Alloys?

Hey Guys,

Thanks very much for all your help.

I managed to get a new one through Morgan & Wacker (Stan) in Brissy and a 2nd hand front from Moto-one(Tony) in Melbourne.

So does anyone in SA want to buy a good rear alloy, and a front with some damage to it? I am not sure if you can get them repaired but I think you may be able to??

Cheers
Ivan
