In the NT there is an unrestricted speed limit, its just there are only 4 sealed roads http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif The Nulla-bore is sealed the whole way with a 110kph limit. The interesting places are off the bitumen..eg the caves at Cocklebiddy, and riding down to the coast or up along the Railway line. You could manage it on your CBR in the dry but watch out when it rains. I dropped my XS1100 about twenty times every 5 KMs on mud after an unexpected downpour.

if you are in NSW head down south towards Braidwood, Araluen and Bega. Good roads up into the high (sic) country. The dirt roads down towards Cann River in Vic are also Ok for road bikes.

The roads around Tumbarumba and Khancoban in the Snowys are excellent but its probably a bit cold at the moment.

Two headed jokes aside,Tasmania is Great.

Mate, some of the best roads in Oz are in NSW (I'm a Qlder by the way). The Putty Rd (behind Sydney). The Oxley Highway (Uralla down to the Coast (Taree). Thundersboltway (Uralla down to Gloster). Arimdale down to the coast. Tentifield to Grafton. Any of the roads over the Snowies. Crossing the boarder rangers on the NSW/ Qld border (Loins Rd one the best) More than enough to keep u happy!!!
Just stay off the western plains and keep to the Great Divide and you'll have some fun. Tonnes of cheap country pubs to stay at if you get off the main roads. Most are bike friendly with secure places to park.
Cheers

My suggestion is to get in contact with local touring clubs in the state you want to ride. I ride with www.sydneymotorcycleclub.org.au and they have a lot of day & weekend rides on offer out of Sydney. Check out their web site and feel free to come along to our AGM in June. They're handing out the new calendar of the next 6 months rides http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif We have quite a few members from the Blue Mountains.

I've done it a couple of times when heading further out in a 4x4, not on a bike. Its a long way, its very straight. Depends what you enjoy, if you want to cruise on a dead straight roads for long distances then great, if you want to ride curving interesting roads then you'll probably be dissappointed.

got the hema motorcycle road atlas today.i just need to ride straight or curved anything goes.thinkin i have a lil handicap with the cbr1000f. its gr8 fer 2 up touring but thinkin xr or bmwf650 fer other intresting roads.
