NZ Tour - Go guided or not?
My wife and I are considering doing a 2-3 week North and South Island NZ tour in early 2016. Anyone have recommendations of tour operators and whether or not to go guided or not?

Some people like to be guided, a tour would be a good way to go if you don't want to drive. Otherwise NZ is a really easy place to tour around yourself, just search out what you want to do, hire yourself a car/bike/camper & go. Then you'll get to see what you want to, not just what the tour company goes to.
Dec-Feb it pays to book your accommodation a day or 2 ahead, more if you are fussy where you stay. Everything has a website these days so if you bring a device to surf the web on you can make up your itinerary as you go quite easily. 3 weeks is not long to see NZ though so you'll want to have a bit of a plan. You could easily do 3 weeks just in the South Is then come back sometime for another 3 weeks in the North Is. Cheers Clint |
