NSW Outback for Easter

Anyone tempted to wander in the Outback? After 4 years riding the single trails of the NSW I am thinking about a dirtbike trip in the far west of the NSW for 6-7 days around Easter. I have experienced few adventure rides before (West Africa, Canada, Europe) and looking for that one. I live in Sydney but I have a trailer big enough for 3 bikes so we can drive up to Cobar to save a bit of rubber on the tyres and leave the trailer there.

The road map is not fixed yet but probably around Broken Cobar - Tilpa - White Cliffs - Tibooburra - Cameron Corner - Packsaddle - Broken Hill - Wilcannia - Cobar.
Maybe Innamincka if time/fuel range permitted. Maybe finishing in Orange to see the final day of the A4DE. We can be self sufficient or not.

Let me know before I head to the outback alone .... http://www.dirtbikeworld.net/forum/i...smiley-018.gif

might be hot

It may be pretty hot out there at that time. I did a similar trip last year in the winter September, u get short days was actually a bit cold some 1c nights. I changed tires at cobar then went louth and Tilpa, you can camp for free over the bridge almost directly behind Tilpa pub. I recommend Pjs guest house in white cliffs very good old mine underground, the pub in white cliffs doesn't open until 4pm and only has 1 corner store so stock up before u get there.

Have fun it is going to be a weird year weather wise out there with Bourke flooding the darling could be full it was a grey trickling creek when i was out there, so could be flowers and green when u get there. Also watch out for goats roos and especially emus around cobar.
Bike shops there is a pretty well stocked motorbike shop in Broken hill lots of KTM stuff.

One more tip when ever u get off the red dust give your chain a good blast at those wash stations to get rid of it as it can grind the crap out of everything and makes this terrible noise that sounds like broken bearings.
good luck

I won't be able to come on the ride, but I think April should be quite pleasant in the outback. I rode from Perth to Sydney via Broken Hill around that time of year and the conditions were quite agreeable.

If the sky is clear at night the mornings can start off quite cool. Just remember the days are getting shorter and it's not a good idea to ride at night because of the wildlife hazard.
