Motorcycle crate in Sydney

Hi guys,

I haven't reached Australia yet and thinking already how to leave) I'm going to fly my bike from Sydney to Seoul probably 20th of May. I've got a good offer from Cargo Australia but a crating is not included. I'm looking for a crate and some place in Sydney and in the neighbourhood to pack the bike in it. Thanks for your help.

Hi Alex

You can sometimes pick-up a used bike crate (there's a lot of cardboard in them these days) from a motorcycle dealer…maybe give Action Motorcycles in Sydney city a hoy?

There's also The Rising Sun Workshop, a really interesting community motorcycle place - cafe, owner repairs etc - just started in Newtown (near the city) that might be worth your touching base with. It's the sort of place where you could crate your bike up over a couple of days as well as having a coffee, a croissant and a nice chat with some lovely people.

Enjoy the trip.

I can't help with the packing but contact Bikebiz at the Granville store. They will usually give them away

Bikebiz Locations: Parramatta and Granville

That is what I'm going to do. Hire a van or car for 1 day, pick up the crate from a motorcycle dealer shop and bring it to a place where I could put the bike in it. The best option whether I could stay the same place with the bike or in neighbourhood.

Try it with this guys, they flown our bikes from Sydney to Germany for about 1000AU, incl crate (we just drove the bike to them 2 days b4 departure and then put it onto a pallet from them, wrapped it in cardbox and in platic foil, all delivered from them without extra costs involved):

Hi,

I arrive in Sydney next week and I'll have a good crate you can have - If you can get it picked up and stored. It has my XT660R in it with gear.
1150 tall x 2000 long x 790 wide. It's thin ply and 2x1 frame, screwed together so easy to flat pack or cut down smaller. If I can get it stored for you when I arrive I'll let you know - Any help ?

The bikes are here now - should be available on tuesday so the crate will be free after say wed this week. I'll save it for you. Staying with family in Cromer near Dee Why beach. I'll have use of a Ute so I could deliver the empty crate to you - so long as you are not miles away. If you get sorted soon, I could drop off the crate on the way back from the port at Botany bay..

Hi!
I'm in Sydney, Newtown. I've just arrived yesterday so today I'm going to visit the workshop Rising Sun Workshop I've got an agreement from them and now going to find a place there for a work. They are close to Billabong gardens hostel where I'm staying in Newtown. If you are able to drop the crate to the workshop it would be a great deal from you! Thanks a lot!

Alex,

Do to a screw up by our shipper - the bikes are available to us on Monday. So the crate will be free on tuesday. I can't deliver that far in the city for free, it's not my truck and tolls apply. I could drop off on the north side of the bridge or tunnel though. Collection is not problem if you can find a Ute. You can't find a drop off in Manly?
