The longest ring road on earth! the H1 in Australia.
Hello!
This is what we´re planning to ride next year. Any information regarding petrol availability, campings, hotels and hostels along the way (mainly away from the big cities, towns) safety on the road, etc. Any information will be appreciated. Thank you very much. |
I've never heard anyone refer to national route 1 as H1 before, and I've driven nearly half of it. Anyway, there's plenty of services (fuel, campgrounds, food, etc) at reasonable intervals, even the more remote portions. This is hardly a challenging route. There's plenty of other people driving it everywhere, at all hours. If you turn off the road into the outback, then its a very different story.

petrol availability - lots of stations on the highway, on the longer sections (Nullarbor for example) fill up when you can.
camping - once again, lots of campsites, and lots of places to camp wild (check iOverlander), campsites are not cheap hotels and hostels along the way (mainly away from the big cities, towns) - the moment you leave the populated areas the main option is the roadhouses safety on the road - Australia is one of the safest countries. Your principal hazard is probably fatigue on long sections with few bends (lots of these). For what it’s worth, I suggest getting off the main highway as much as you can. |
