June 2017 Cross Australia Expedition

I am putting together a small group to travel coast to coast across Australia in June 2017. Its early days and we are planning to take 2-3 months and see it all. Motto: See Australia Slowly.
The route has not been finalised but it will follow the routes discovered by explorers Sturt, Leichhardt and Gibson.
I am based in Sydney. I am a local and this will suit those who travel light.

More to come

Stephen

Geez, with that time frame, you could do it on foot & save the petrol
The planning stage is the best :thumbup1:
We look forward to reading about it bier

If you talking about a motorcycle group, then I am very interested. I would like to buy a motorcycle in Sydney, then sell it afterwards.

Plenty of people do the Outback Way Outback Way - Australia's Longest Shortcut - Outback Way - Australia's Longest Shortcut by car subject to sensible planning and preparation. Its a lot of dirt and you'd need to check with local councils as to road conditions. These are not "Highways" in the sense of freeway, motorway or even dual carriageway, often just a single strip of bitumen, there are sections of very "hard" dirt roads with corrugations, sand, dust holes, impassable in the wet, sometimes impassable when it rained 1000kms away and 6 months ago. You need a reliable vehicle as roadside service is not available, you'll need a sat phone for extra safety.
That said you'll have a ball and its a real achievement to do a trip like that, just don't hurry.
