is it possible

Is it possible for a UK citizen to buy and ride a bike in NewZealand instead of shiping or air freight you own out there to ride?

clintnz 24 Aug 2014 23:57

Yep, no issue. Heaps of tourists buy a vehicle to use over here.

Have a look here for info: NZ Transport Agency | NZ Transport Agency

Have a look here for a bike: Motorbikes – Bikes, motorcycles, motorbike parts, motorcycle helmets and more for sale on trademe.co.nz

I am in the proccess of buying a bike to ride in America and Canada for a year and was looking in to shipping it to NZ or selling it and buying another when I get there. From what I have found out so far buying and selling is a cheaper way of doing it. So its good news if I can do the same in NZ. In the USA I require an address is that the same in NZ?

clintnz 25 Aug 2014 23:04

Yep, you'll need an address, but anything will do. If you've got contacts in NZ use theirs, if you buy at a bike shop see if you can use theirs, you can use mine if you've got nothing else.

NZ Registration (also known as vehicle license) does NOT include 3rd party vehicle/property insurance. It does include the ACC levy, you & 3rd party are covered for accident injury.

There is no requirement to have insurance of any kind, although at least 3rd party is of course a good idea.

For everybody or just UK citizens?

Can Americans buy a bike there with no problems either?
