Great Central Road
 

Hi everybody,
I'm looking at riding the Great Central Road from Uluru to Laverton.
The plan is to leave Uluru approximately beginning May 2014. Does anybody have up to date info on the road conditions as well as water & fuel availability.
Finally, is there anybody that's planning on riding / driving the same route at the same time I'm planning? If so, would you consider teaming up?

May 12-18, and a week either side of that date, Uluru and Alice will be flooded with 1000 Ulyssians on motorcycles (or motorhomes). Just sayin' :mchappy:

Hi,

I did that road in a Mini in May 2013. Road conditions varied according to how recently each section was graded. Most of the time (between head gaskets!) we managed 80-90kph over the corrugations. It was very dusty and barren but not rocky.

There are roadhouses every 300-400km approx where you can refuel and even stay overnight - Warakuna, Warburton and Tjukarila from memory. I can look up the locations if you need, but there is information online.
