Darwin campground or other accomodation
 

Hi,
can anyone recommend a nice inexpensive place in Darwin to stay?
We are arriving early in the morning on the 20th of May and have then to arrange to get our bikes out of customs, etc arriving by sea.
That meets we need either a place which is central or easy to reach by regular public transport.
We have our camping gear with us :-)

Try this site: http://www.hb-247.com/aff/index.cfm There are quite a few backpacker lodges in central Darwin, mostly situated in Mitchell Str. One of the cheapest is the Gecko lodge.

Most convenient campsite is the Shady Glen opposite the airport on the main highway - see Welcome - Shady Glen Tourist Park but there are lots of mozzies and you will probably find a backpackers more pleasant. As Vaufi says, there are dozens of backpackers along Mitchell St and they're not much more expensive than camping.
