expired registration.

hey everyone, I´ve been travelling on my bike for quite a few years now and the Registration has since expired, (can only be renewed in the uk with an MOT as far as I know) has anyone had any issues with expired registration at all? did they even ask for a document confirming if the registration tax was still current?
