Can Aust Citizen bring O.S registered bike to Australia on a Carnet ?

Hi Guys .

I am an Australian Citizen , but I am living in Indonesia and I also own a Indonesian Registered Motorcycle.

As an Australian Citizen ..., Can I Temporarily ship that Indonesian registered motorcycle to Australia ?

.., and if so - what is the maximum time limit that I can have that Indonesia registered bike remain in Australia ?

cheers

As far as I know, anyone can import a bike if they have a carnet. Subject to the usual inspections of course. Maximum time on foreign plates is 12 months.

Cheers

I'd double check with Customs as a Carnet is only available to "visitors" to Australia. I think you need to ensure that the Act or Regulations don't define visitors somewhere as being non citizens/non permanent residents of Australia.

The time limit is 12 months or whenever the carnet holder leaves the country. I'm pretty sure that the carnet can be extended though, there's something about the appropriate visa being valid???

Simple answer is yes... as long as you are a Resident (and can prove it) of an other country...
