I'll be there for a few months early next year, to recharge the wallet, before continuing on around Oz then Asia.
Have you sent a message to the Melbourne community?

Right o, first question. Any nice suburbs that I should be looking for in terms of renting/buying accommodation?

milkman 11 Sep 2007 18:26

Not in Victoria :thumbup1:
You're coming all the way from England to move to a cold and rainy place?

It all depends on how close to town you want to be really.

michaeltharme 11 Sep 2007 21:40

What you talkin about Milkman . . he's comin from one cold rainy place to another :cool4: . . . he'll feel at home :rolleyes2:

Welcome mate. You wanna find god's country . . come to Canberra :thumbup1:

Lol thanks for the replies - people did mention that the weather is a little :stormy: at times, but having lived in houses that were so cold that there was ice on the inside of the windows (!!!) I can cope. Besides, when work wants to pay me 3 times as much for the sake of moving house, who am I to argue?!

Definately up for travelling and stuff - im not keen on inner city living, and i believe theres some nice country NE of the city. Just wanted to get some locals opinions. I dont mind commuting up to 1hr to/from work (Queen St I believe), but obviously less is better.

Need some dudes to hook me up on a :scooter: again too. I'll have some serious withdrawals going on and will need a supermoto or big trailie asap.

Tis a fine fine thing you're doing mate. I came here from Hereford 40 years ago, and I can still remember the ice on the inside of the windows. You won't get that here in Melbourne, though you might in Canberra. There's plenty of good rides around here, and if you don't mind the distances, it's a great big country. Get on to 'Adventure Riders forum" There's an Oz section and you'll get all the info you will ever need.

Hey Nomad.l live about 60k north from the city centre.Beautiful little town.l work in Collingwood which is 3 or 4 klm from Queen st.l leave home at 4:30am every morning and it only takes about 35-40 minutes to get to work.
lmo living to the north would be better than the west or south east of the city,as there is easy access to everywhere from here.lf you need any more info on anything about Melbourne or where anything is?please feel free to contact me.By the way,2 of my younger brothers are in GB at the moment, one is in a place called Witney Oxfordshire and the other is in the north west at a place called Shrewberry or something like that.(lts near the Welsh border)
Regards Steve

cheers for the replies!

Hamson, looks like im hooking up with you then :thumbup1:

Heard of both places you refer to re brothers. Been to neither tho...

Just out of interest, if you were to leave for work at a more respectable time of say 8am rather than 4.30 (yes WTF did you do that meant you have to get up so early!?) how long do you reckon it'd take to get into work?

I have replied to you over at UKGS'er,
