Buying and selling a bike in New Zealand as a foreigner.
 

After failing to find any up to date information on the hubb, I thought it best to start a new thread.

I'm seeking information and experiences to enable a foreigner (British) to fly into New Zealand this January, buy a cheapish bike and ride it top to bottom or vice versa then sell it for hopefully what I paid.

It seems to be a simple process if one can trust Google AI :

Fly in, buy from any seller on 'Trade me', inform the Government online and just get on with it. Insurance isn't even a legal requirement.

Is it that easy??

I'd be interested to hear from people with recent experience. Especially recommendations for third party insurance companies.
