Bike rental NZ

I need 1 or 2 bikes from end Jan to mid March. Is it cheaper from Christchurch to Auckland or no difference?Any recommendations or shall I buy & sell after trip?Prefer 600 or bigger.

I would say that at six weeks or so you are on the cusp of weither it's worth while buying and selling again. You will save money (unless you have major repairs) but you will lose time in the buying and selling. What's more important?
I would say start in Christchurch and finish in Auckland at that time of the year. That way you will be following the warmer weather. 600cc is plenty big enough in NZ. Our roads are not made for speed and the police are SAVAGE!
Feel free to ask more questions.

I would endorse Nigels advice about renting or buying, and bike size and speed enforcment - on the button.
However, allocate your time in favour of the South Island - it has the pick of everything any visitor could want, the roads are better and less populated, the scenery is better, the people are friendlier (he says, ducking for cover :innocent: ) - you'll love it.

You've also picked the best time possible for weather as well, so you can't go wrong.

If you still haven't made up your mind about a bike by the time you get to Dunedin, look me up - I'm sure something could be sorted.

Dot

Yes I have a Works Rep trials Dot--I rode successfully for many years in Pre65 trials. There is a man in Rotorua who owns a motel & has a 1963/4 Dot Demon scrambler.I stayed one night in 2000 there but have lost his address.I dont suppose there is a Dot owners club in NZ who may know his present address.
Last known at Mike Quayle Pichi Mui, 16 Sala St, Rotorua.
Any help appreciated.
