Best time to leave Darwin for trip to Europe

Hi guys,

When would be the best time to leave Darwin to East Timor for a trip to Europe?
I have been in Southeast Asia before so would not spend too much time there.
I scheduled about 8 months for the trip (doable???)

Cheers,
Frank

Hi Frank

Im interested in this too. I don't have the answers but there are a few in here who have came the other way UK to oz.

Im planning same trip for 2012 so would be really keen to hear how you go.

BTW if you passing through Perth give us a shout if you need to crash somewhere for a few days.

I was planning on about 1 Jan 2012, so as to arrive at Laos-Yunnan border ~4/15, Tibet in May, Mongolia June 20-July 20, arrive as Bosporus or Polish border ~September.
Does anyone know about shipping arrangements for a Unimog camper truck from Darwin to Indonesia, either Timor or Bali? Is the E. Timor - Indonesia border very difficult (I have heard it is; if so, I'd like to ship straight to Bali).
I'm not interested in Tibet/Mongolia in the winter; I see enough of that where I live.

How long is a piece of string ?

Are you talking weather & climate or how it takes to get into Europe ?

And which part of Europe ? .. East to west is pretty far :innocent:

Sorry, I was not very clear...Yes I meant weather & climate. I would like to arrive in Turkey between May and September and thought about leaving Darwin in November???
Thought on the following route:
East Timor, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Loop Laos- Cambodia- Thailand and ship to Nepal or India.
Would be great to get some advise.
Cheers,
Frank
