I've never been to a meeting, but would love to join in.
I live in Sydney though... Do many people travel that far for the meeting?
I'm in the beginnings of planing an Aussie trip, so I figured it would be a good idea to get to the meeting.
What happens at the meetings? What are they like?

Bennett 24 Nov 2008 03:43

Bonnie;
A lot of riders attend from far away, some last year from Brisbane,Sydney.Melbourne and lots of other places, including international travellers.
My advice is to go,if you do not enjoy the meeting I would be astounded.
There will be presentations of adventures rides, probably first aid lessons, bike preparations etc.
Ben

Go. It is not far ... take some time off and take some riding time to go down. A day will have you in the snowy mt. - great riding to be had there. Wind your way down to the Vic. Alps .. even more riding to be done there .. Cricky take the week off! That way you'll not want to go riding Fri/Sat when the talks are on ..

Bonnie 26 Nov 2008 07:09

Sounds great!
taking a few days off to get down there sounds like a good idea. I'd hate to do a mad rush down the hume on the friday. My experiences of the Hume hwy are not that interesting. Scary at night too.
Would be interested in tagging along with people coming from Sydney or further north too if anyone is up for that. :thumbup1:

Travelers meeting

Hey Bonnie,
I will most likely head to this meeting, for the Adventure and an excuse to take some time off work, I'm also living in Sydney so we could ride together if you like.

 :palm:

for those that cant seem to find the other listing, here are the accomodation options for the meeting ,the laurel hotel has very limited rooms ,so be quick
phone kim on 0260723541 , camping behind the pub(piccie below) is first in best dressed, for bikes only at the back of the pub and cant be reserved,so be early and numbers are limited ,its a whopping $2 a night ,no showers ,but you can use the caravan park ones for $2 or harden the %#@ up and jump in the snowy creek
the magorra caravan park is 500 -Ish metres away and you can call ted 60723568 ,they have vans for a pretty good price just mention horizons ,a brilliant kitchen and heaps of camping on the mitta river
have also booked a guest house across the road from the hall a couple of hundred metres form the pub
and a great place for maybe 4 couples who want a bit of space ,its 4 km away and bloody brilliant Witches Garden or phone felicity on 0260723533

thecanoeguy 31 Jan 2009 09:22

rego now open

so get crackin ,if your not camping you better get in early ,there is also a guesthouse that holds ten across the road from the hall (200 metres from the pub)for $20 a head ,if any one is keen on that one let me know ,its called pussers retreat

So I missed the 2009 meeting. When can we expect the next? If I'm in the country by then I'd like to help wherever I can.

How about next year, 2010?

There has been some talk about having a meeting up here in Queensland.

Since a lot of us couldn't make it down south - me being one of those who couldn't make it is extremely disappointed! I would have love to have gone.

So keep your ear/eyes open as there maybe a mini meet up here...

lockyv7 21 Jul 2009 00:21

MAX, sounds like with a little push you could be sticking your hand up to have the meeting in Queensland, it would be a lot better for me than lugging all my luggage down to Victoria each year, Locky.

Sinkers 21 Jul 2009 01:12

Yeah queensland.

great idea locky, sunny queensland, perhaps a mini meeting somewere in the sunshine coast hinterland to start with.
