S & E Africa travel blog
Hello Hubb - the missus and I have been on the road for about four months. We have our own vehicle, bought in SA, and this time around we're driving from Southern Africa to East Africa and back. We're in Kenya now, so far so good!
We just got back from Turkana and will head to Uganda in the next few weeks. I have a blog, mostly for friends and family back home, but if anyone is particularly bored and wants to check it out, here it the most recent post: https://stuckinlowgear.com/exploring-lake-natron/ I'm running a few weeks behind on the blog, but so it goes. Thanks to all the Hubb-ers and the fantastic information that is shared here, I really appreciate it. |
Thanks for the link - I appreciate how much work the blog is - keep it up please : )
Lots of good memories recalled. |

Also when we readers do set a favorite, sometimes we will forget to reopen.
Guess we all would like to get updates noted here at hubb too! beer Stunning pictures! Surfy |

Next post is up, to Aberdare NP, Kenya
https://stuckinlowgear.com/nairobi-n...national-park/ We are taking advantage of good wifi here and taking care of some business back home (taxes...). I'm just about ready to hit the road again! |
Next post is up...
https://stuckinlowgear.com/samburu-national-reserve/ Next..to Turkana. I no nothing of motorcycling, but I think this area would be great riding. |
Many thanks for the links,
It appears your living the dream, many of us can't... Travel safe.. Mike. |

Great Report

A great report and we did nearly the same route on our route back to Spain and were by Lake Turkana August 2019 - one of the highlights travelling the East of Africa.

Here we go - Uganda - Jinja, Sipi Falls and to Kidepo NP
https://stuckinlowgear.com/uganda-ha...ramoja-kidepo/ |
More Kidepo and also Murchison Falls NP.
https://stuckinlowgear.com/kidepo-na...ison-falls-np/ We loved Kidepo, more than the much more visited Murchison Falls National Park. Its a long haul to get up there, but I think worth it. Of interest to HUBBers is that I believe you can ride motorcycles in all the Ugandan game parks, unlike most other parks in Africa. |
Next blog post is up, deeper into Western Uganda: https://stuckinlowgear.com/ziwa-roya...rt-fortportal/
I forgot to mention (I think?) that the roads we drove in NW Kenya would be spectacular on a motorcycle. Specifically the Iten > Kabernet > Marigat road, as well as the Cherangani highway. |

Next blog post is up. We bit the bullet (sort of) on gorilla trekking in Uganda. It was great, but if you don't have the $$ for it don't agonize over it too much for not going, you can do a LOT of traveling for the price of a gorilla permit.

A quick dash through Rwanda :
https://stuckinlowgear.com/a-quick-j...anda-lakekivu/ I think the Congo Nile Trail in Rwanda would make for some excellent Adv motorcycle riding. |
Subscribed and loving your trip :thumbup1:
We’re looking to spend 3 weeks in Morocco in September |

We drove the lakeshore road along northern Lake Tanganyika, and then the Bamboo Valley track inland north of Mahale. Super scenic, we also got stuck. Good times all around. New blog post about it is up.
https://stuckinlowgear.com/stuck-in-...o-valley-road/ Or, if the written word is not your thing ;) .... |
Next blog post is up...
https://stuckinlowgear.com/south-thr...kasabb-lusaka/ We're headed back towards the easy(er) traveling of Southern Africa |

Next post is up - more Botswana...
https://stuckinlowgear.com/baines-ku...aobab-nxaipan/ I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to do some exploration and unplanned travels in well trodden Botswana. |
We are emerging from a very nice stretch in the bush. Now back to the hard work..blog posts! More coming soon, Here is the next one: https://stuckinlowgear.com/botswana-...u-island-nxai/

Next blog post is up: https://stuckinlowgear.com/kalahari-...botswana-ckgr/

Another blog post is up:
https://stuckinlowgear.com/kaokoland...valley-cunene/ To our regret we have actually finished our trip! The blog is lagging badly, but I will continue to post my various half done blogs and photos, hoping that it will help/encourage others to take the leap. |

Next blog post is up - Savuti and Chobe NP in Botswana: https://stuckinlowgear.com/elephants...tswana-savuti/
next we go to Zimbabwe. I love Botswana, but it somehow isn't as interesting as Zimbabwe and other nearby destinations. Like Zim! Coming soon. |
And we finally made it to Zimbabwe. We loved it here. This is just the first of, I expect, four more posts. Note there are some useful tips on money changing/paying for groceries and that sort of thing in this post.

Our visit to Chizarira National Park - https://stuckinlowgear.com/chizarira...ba-escarpment/
|
We had a nice visit, with a notable exception, to Matusadona National Park - then took the ferry to Kariba.
https://stuckinlowgear.com/matusadon...a-karibaferry/ Zimbabwe is great! People there are just very easy to talk to, and friendly. |
