Around Europe in a Beat up Fiat

Hey guys! Its been a while since I have been on. I typically do motorcycle riding but this winter decided to do something different.

Bought a 2008 Fiat Doblo turned it into a make shift camping van and have been travelling around Europe! The car has been in a pretty heavy front end crash at some point and was cobbled back together with pieces from other cars and bailing wire.doh

Also playing around with videos this time.... What a learning curve that has been.

Anyways just leaving Ukraine we had 4 bent wheels in less then 24 hours. Finally made it to Rome where our rear suspension gave up the ghost. Figured that out and are now near Bordeaux for a few nights before moving on!

I will try to update this more as I go but here is our first video for anyone that interested.

From here we are going to head east towards the Baltics! We have a list of places to see but if anyone knows of any cant miss places in the Baltics please dont hesitate to let me know!

Thanks!

I've been putting places on Destinations. Hit me up when you reach Estonia, or let me know what kind of stuff you're interested in.

Lithuania - the Curonian Spit is normally interesting but otherwise going that far west might not be worthwhile. Have a look at the Hill of Crosses as far as countryside destinations go. Vilnius is a worthwhile stop, but I'm biased since I have friends there.

Latvia - well there's Riga, and lots of nice countryside as well. Some old castles, for example Jaunpils, the seat of Jacob Keller, the Duke of Courland (a very interesting historical person who founded Latvian colonies in Africa and the Caribbean). The Sigulda/Turaida area and Cesis are quite scenic.

Estonia - depends whether you go via the western road (through Pärnu) or the eastern road (through Tartu). I'm more familiar with the eastern road and can give you more tips about that. Definitely go to the islands, Saaremaa and Hiiumaa, if you're camping.

Thanks!

I am not sure we will have time to make it that far north but at the moment anything is possible. I have been through Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania a few times! Tallinn is one of my favorite cities in Europe!

We got a bit of a map going with what we now about. Looking to head towards Balkans next, guess I should of made that a little more clear....

Ugh sorry about that..... I should know better...

Funny story quickly. We were exiting Slovenia into Croatia and the border crossing is more of a formality there than anything... Most of the people using the crossing are EU citizens so they dont need an exit stamp.

We werent sure what was going on so we pull up to the first booth and the guard was watching football. I tried to give him our passports but he waived us to the next booth. I figured it was break time. So we went to the next booth the guy took our passports stamped them and said have a good day!

We drove forward to the Croatian Side only to see that it was abandoned... OHHH wait the first guard watching football was the Slovenian guard...

So we parked the car and walked back. I didnt know what to do so I made sure to stay in the open and made eye contact with one of the guards that was just standing beside a booth. As I approached him with my passport in hand another guard started screaming at me.. I explained we didnt get an exit stamp... Ohh just go there. So we went back to the football watching guard. He was a little upset we were interrupting the game for some stupid stamp. He quickly stamped us out of Slovenia and we were finally on our way!

Here is a little video we did on our thoughts on the "freedom" of a campervan"
