UK to Uganda
Hi all,
I'm planning a trip from the UK to Uganda sometime next year and am looking for some vehicle advice. I live in Uganda so would be using the vehicle as my day to day transport once here. Full-on mud and guts is a rareity so I'm considering either a Pajero or a Landcruiser (either 70 or 90, the latter only if my budget miraculously gets bigger!). The ideal vehicle would be diesel, manual, with aircon and in pretty much standard spec. I believe it's tarmac all the way apart from a stretch in northern Kenya so I think either would be fine. Does anyone think otherwise?! I know Landcruisers have a better reputation but should a well looked after Pajero be ok, reliability-wise? How much time should we allow for the Egypt to Uganda leg? We don't want to race it but have a limited amount of time. Last question - any idea how much the ferry from Jordan-Egypt and then the ferry across Lake Aswan cost? Thanks all! |
Overland vehicle
At the end of the day its up to your personal choice I went for
a modified landcruiser 60 series..no fancy electrics and basic to work on.. easy to change all the stuff strong reliable...bullet proof A mitsubishi are strong but alittle delicate and service ratios are quite closer if i remember...A landrover tough but week in areas.. Basic is good you just need to do some home work...On trucks i would always go for toyota but thats me...As they are everywhare in africa and parts can be got hold of pretty sharpish. Good luck.....:thumbup1: |
