Tax disc and change of ownership for foreign vehicle?
 

We bought our car from Namibia and have now finished our trip, landing in UK.

Our car is registered in Namibia which we were intending to use as a selling point, because it would be easier to sell in Namibia (or South Africa?) at the end of another journey down.

But we don't know

• if we can get the vehicle registration documents changed for a new owner
• how we go about getting a tax disc from Namibia bearing in mind it has british MOT and ins (Presuming if we get a british tax disc, we will have to register it anyway?)

Does anyone have a namibian contact, web-site or any knowledge that may help - or should we just bite the bullet and get the plates changed and registered in UK. (I know that it needs changing anyway within 6 mths - so time is becoming an issue!)

You cant mix and match different countries for registration/road tax purposes. If you are in Uk then at the end of the allotted time you need to register and mot and insure in Uk If you are only import into UK as foreign reg vehicle then it needs to be kept current with that countries requirements (technically) or be registered here .
