Russia

Hi All
I would like to travel through Russia and on to Mongolia in August and would like any info on what is required travel around the country? I have found the Russian Embassy web site but can only find info for personal visas, and have found that you have to get an invitation from a travel agency. Don’t know if you need Carnet or other doc’s, Anyone who has travelled this part of the world any info would be great http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif
Many thanks

you can have a look at the northern asia forum mainly but also route planning / trip transport / trip paperwork forums (here on the hubb) and you ll get the answers to most of your questions.

quickly :
LOI : required for russia, not mongolia.
CPD : not required for both russia mongolia.
vehicle insurance : required for russia (at the border, see a recent recent), not for mongolia.
national or/and international driving license recommended, required.
