Car Written Off In Russia?
Hi all,
Still planning a drive to Russia and Mongolia next year, shipping car home to UK from Vladivostock hopefully (providing I find a shipping company that will ship to Europe http://www.waytorussia.net/TalkLoung...n_rolleyes.gif ) On the more negative side, I have to ask - what if it all goes wrong, and the car is damaged/is beyond repair? What are the implications of writing off/scrapping a car in Russia or Mongolia and getting out of the country without it?? Cheers, Mike |
hi
i know its a different country but try speaking to Bertlings in Almaty kazakhstan, they speak good english and are very helpful |
Mike, I suggest you contanct the organisers of the Mongol Rally.
The Rally cars are imported into Mongolia and sold. It takes about 3 hours at the border to do the importation.

The vehicle -you should report the vehicle's demise to a Customs office (Таможенный офис) and give them the Temporary Import document you were given on entry (normally you surrender this at the exit border). They may require a roads police (ДПС) report to verify the wreck/theft. Yourself and passengers - there are no problems leaving by air, boat, other vehicle or even by foot as long as your Passport and Visa are current and valid. Entry stamps in Passports have a car, airplane or boat on them but that only signifies the type of border crossing - NOT, as is often wrongly stated here, that if you had a car, plane or boat on your passport you must have it with you when you exit! |
