Losing Kevin

12/27/2001 Frank - sorry about the confusion, I stopped to take a picture and when I went to catch up there was an intersection, I wasn't sure which way you went. Some how I ended up on the cuota road to Qaxaca. I met a Mexican Dentist who was riding a Shadow, we rode into Qaxaca together and I hung out at the Plaza CE a couple of hours thinking you might come there. It was so crowded that you probably wouldn’t have found it anyway. I left there about dark and rode another 160 miles to Juchitan for the night. when I left this morning, I asked a lot of people if they’d seen you, only one guy at a Pemex said yes, and I think he was pulling my leg. Anyway, I’m in Tapachula for the night, haven’t crossed the border yet. If you’re already in Esquilenta, Guatemala there is a good chance I won’t catch up in the short time I have left. I may just go thru Guatemala to Belize on the ride you recomended. I’m not sure, l'll give it some thought tonight. Again, sorry about the confusion, and sorry you had to back track 10 miles. On the outside chance that you settled in Tapachula tonight, I’m at the Los Pc just a half a block from the Plaza Centro. phone 01 962 5 40 50. If I don’t catch up with you, it was great riding with you guys, and if you need anything just ask.

Border Crossings

Dale and I had already had a wonderful ride to Deadhorse Alaska and back. We are both married with families and jobs so we hade to wait a year and a half to continue the adventure. We left on December 21, 2001. What follows are an account of our ride to the tip of South America. The only miles we didn't ride was from Panama City to Bogatta, Colombia. I estimated that to be about 500 miles. I wouldn't go to Bogatta again and will explain why in this account.
