I left Chiclayo (November 7) heading for Caxamarca 286 km away. The first 100 km were very good, but as soon you left the Panamericana, the road is no longer a road, it’s just a track with the biggest number of potholes per square meter I have seen. It took to me 8.5 hours. But I didn’t stay in Caxamarca, I continued to Baños del Inca, a 3 minutes away city with wonderful hot springs, a recreational site for the Inca. I stayed on Municipal Shelter, next door from the hot springs. 2.5 inches of hot water come to my room bath tub. A paradise.
I left in the Hotel in Chiclayo my tent, my Thermarest pad and other things, weighting 4 kg but occupying half of one of my lateral bags. I am not sad, believe me, the bike feels llighter and more hand able. I still have a small tarp and my hammock.
Me tomó 8.5 horas.
Irrigation is a must in this desert. This side of the roas is irrigated
Irrigación es una necesidad en este desierto. Este lado de la carretera está irrigado.
This side of the roas is not irrigated
Este lado no está irrigado
As you travel toward interior valleys, irrigation produces pretty landscapes
And here, is the source of all beauty
Climbing to Caxamarca
Trepando a Caxamarca
Alter climbing to 3150 m, Caxamarca city appears.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events (22 this year!); we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, the HUBB or to receive the e-zine. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
