3 weeks to go

Another few weeks have past and the tension is getting bigger. The calender is full with parties and fair wells, saying goodbye's and one last bier with friends.
The house is chaos, packing up, sorting and storing, we got 2 more weeks and then we will be homeless, taking advantage of every invite to stay at friends for a night or two until we drive of. Tomorrow all our furniture goes in to storage so we have a empty house a bit more room to spread our gear and sort things out.
Packing the bike is still a issue, you think by now we have it sorted but every time we get to it its what about that and do we really need this and so on.
The bike is ready got a new set of tires on it and had a service done, rego was due too just to give the back pocket a good workout $$$$$.
Work is so busy at the moment that I will be working until 2 days before we leave but I think we got things organized so may as well.
Still can't believe its actually happening, we're off in three weeks, bring it on.

144 hours to go

We are less then a week away from starting our journey, officially homeless and only a few days away from unemployed. All the planning and organising is done and were ready to go.
It’s been a busy week, finishes packing up and storing our belongings, organizing the last of the paperwork. i sent the carnet application to the wrong office address and then the panic was on as of where it is and will it get to the right place in time and so on. Marnie from the NRMA has been great, she got it all under control and pushed the process trough quickly so its in the mail and I should get it today or tomorrow. THANKS MARNIE !!!

The before and after shots of packing the bike.

as we left the house to go too one of our friends for the first night a thunder storm developed and a torrential downpour started just as we drove off ( we put it down to training) all the gear coped well, it was a good way to find out if our packing was up to scratch before we get to far.

we still can't believe its actually happening and its only a few days to we hit the road.
It all started about tree years ago on a ride to the Hunter Valley NSW when we sat in a Irish Pub and started talking about how great it would be to ride around the world. As we got home that day we sat on the computer and goggled motorcycle travel and found Horizonsunlimited. What a great side! We spend hours and hours getting information, reading other peoples travel blogs and got more exited about the prospect of doing a journey like that.
It all came to a abrupt stop when Maggie found out that she has Breast Cancer and was in Hospital within a few days for a operation, then followed chemo, radio and all the treatments under the sun to get rid of the Cancer, we are happy to report that all is well and clear :)
Due to the Cancer we decided to do some fund raising for the Cancer Council in Australia incorporating our trip. As it happened the brother of our friend Daniel came back from Nepal with lots of prayer flags so the idea came up to get people to sign our write messages of hope and well wishes on to the flags for a donation to the Cancer Council and we will take this with us and hang them up at the highest point of our travel at Kharadung La 5602m above sea level in the Himalayas. With the help of Friends we managed to rise $3000.-

So now we are at Wendy's counting the hours and starting to relax a bit, only
143hr to go :)
