Make a difference! Ride for Charity. Have you ‘made a difference’ while travelling, by fundraising or donating time and energy to a worthwhile cause such as wildlife conservation or tsunami reconstruction efforts? Tell us how you did it, what the experience was like, and how others can help. There is a Forum on the HUBB called "Make a difference" where you can discuss and learn about how to make your trip special - for someone else. Chris Smith and Liz Peel's story about the work they did in Belize, plus a few others that have struck home for us were the impetus for the forum. Please check it out and add your thoughts on what you, or anyone, can do to make a difference anywhere in the world, whether travelling or not.
If you are a non-profit organization, or individual who knows of an opportunity for travellers to help out in a less developed country, tell us about it or post it on the forum. If you know of organizations - other than the majors such as Unicef, that we might not find otherwise, please also tell us about it or post it on the forum.
Motorcycle Outreach Organization: Motorcycle Outreach "A UK registered charity that supports projects in developing countries which use motorcycles and other vehicles to improve healthcare delivery in remote areas.
Our emphasis is on a zero-breakdown system where the vehicles provided to healthcare workers come with maintenance support thus ensuring a long and productive life.
In very many situations motorcycles can be more effective and offer better value than other methods of transportation. In all cases a properly maintained vehicle is better than one stuck in a garage for lack of parts, proper servicing or maintenance funding.
Motorcycle Outreach emphasises road safety awareness in all vehicle use and incorporates rider and driver training into its programs.
Through the interests of those involved with Motorcycle Outreach and several fundraising events the charity is strongly associated with adventure motorcycling. As a charity that uses motorcycles to improve conditions for people in poorer countries Motorcycle Outreach is an appropriate and worthy cause to associate your trip with."
