Events Schedule
Note: This is a planned schedule - it will change; so do check back here a few days before the meeting for the almost
final version. The final version will be posted at the event.
The Africa room holds about 200 people - that's the main room we used last year. The Asia room is a much smaller room
at the back, should hold about 75-100 at a pinch. The Australasia room is a new room to us, opposite the Asia room.
It will be crowded, please be patient, and please vacate rooms as quickly as possible after a presentation
so that we can prepare for the next one.

'Tents - why compromise?'
Active motorcyclist, camper and hill walker with 40+ years, experience. Places that I have camped/backpacked include remote areas
of Scotland during the winter months to dedicated summer campsites in the south of Europe. I have trained young people for survival
in wild country, including The Duke of Edinburgh Scheme to gold level, nine years in a mountain rescue team and formed part of a
safety team to advise the military on searching for missing persons in wild country. Business commitments dictate that I now camp
mainly during the winter months. |

'Gilding the sow's ear: making the best of amateur DVD footage'
This presentation will not show how to make professional videos and DVDs. Instead it will share practical issues faced in the
creation of a DVD of overland travel, suitable for the torture of friends, relatives and anyone else you can tie down in front of
the TV. We will look at planning and preparation, shooting footage and editing. I've done two trips down to about 29N. in Morocco
and back, off-road for the most part prior to that I was a roadie, but got fed up with all the fashion victims on the road. Bike:
2000 model Honda XR600R with Exel rims, CWC Bulldog spokes, heavy springs and re-valved at front, custom pannier racks, White Bro's.
E-Series can, Staintune header, Renthals, Touratech risers, Trailtech dash ... and, the mother of all tanks, a 36 litre alloy job...
Most abused phrase: "I'm just going out on the bike for a loaf of bread love ..." |

organise the trip, when to go and what you’re likely to see. |
