Between 5th October 2010 and 7th March 2011 Rob and Sarah drove 31,925 kilometres (21,300 miles), took some 7500 photographs, travelled through 18 countries from England through Eastern Africa right down to Agulhas Point, the southern most point of the African Continent. For some people, travelling thru Colombia by road is supposed to be a very dangerous endeavour, and even more if you go off the main roads. This book does not intend to prove otherwise. Colombian security has improved leaps and bounds, but if you get yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time (as in any country) things can go awful. I myself broke down in my landrover at the top of the Transfagaras mountain road, 25km from the main hightway & knowing where to get a tow truck to get me back to Brasov made a massive difference to the experience.

Brasov, Bran, Moieciu, Fundata, Transfagarasan, Pestera etc are truly incredible places to visit & I highly recommend it as a bikers prime destination. As an avid bike traveller (I have an Africa Twin, DR800 & a had GS1100), I live in (gorgeous) Brosov (google it), near the centre of transylvania & am happy to help with anything from a free safe to leave you bike overnight while you stay in a town hotel to finding you affordable holiday villa rental in the midst of incredible biker routes. One such villa is only 500meters away from the excellent but maybe expensive 'MotoRom' KTM centre near Bran Castle.
