Yuasa YTX9-BS

Hey there!

I got two Yuasa YTX9-BS in my garage and I need to know if those batteries can be fitted laid on their side or will they leak?

Tomorrow hopefully, fiberglass! :P

I'd keep any non gel battery upright, but you may be able t lay them on their side. I'm not 100% though.

Assuming these batteries are not the gel type, the answer will be no. All lead acid batteries have some room in them to allow the fluid level to alter during the charge/discharge cycle and to allow for normal thermal expansion. If you lay it on its side then there is a chance that part of the plates in the cells will not be covered in acid and will cook.

so, which one is it? lol

From the Yuasa site it's a Type : Commonly Called a Sealed, Gel, Dry
but still, it's lead acid battery.....

:confused1:

I'm still in the drawing part for the fiberglass work and I'm positioning the battery on it's side...

I think both batteries are dead but I'm still gonna try to charge them just to be sure..
If they're dead and I can't find a reasonable priced GEL battery anywhere I'll just get battery eliminator and use the kickstart :\

Btw, how many amps are needed to crank the XT's engine using the e-start?
(I made a small modification... none of the lights light on when I turn on the key! well, maybe just the rear presence light... so a little less juice is needed)

I've never possessed a gel battery but they are supposed to be able to be laid over AFAIK, but I've no idea how far. The link that Bertrand provided states that they come with an acid pack and the way the filling process is described suggests that it's fairly liquid. I'd suggest more googling or a phone call to a supplier.

Bumping!!

I'm in need of a new battery.

I'm looking at a few of them on ebay:

1) eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

2) eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

3) AGM Batterie YTX9-BS 50812 12V 8Ah für KTM Super Moto bei eBay.de: Markenspezifische Teile (endet 22.10.10 17:16:11 MESZ)

Are any of these real Gel batteries?
If anyone could please translate the posts (not google translate) I'd be really thankful!

1 and 2 seems like true gel, number 3 comes with acid in a pack, which you poor into the battery, and then "seal" it up, dunno if its a true gel.

Yeah...

The third one is what they called a Gelled battery.. it's kinda of a fake gel battery..

The best battery right now, for me of course would the the Turntech battery but it's just too damn expensive so I'll take the 2nd best.. (first ebay link)

I'm just finishing checking the cold cranking amps CCA on some other batteries I found this afternoon on ebay uk..

the more, the better lol :P

Tonight I'ma make up my mind and tomorrow I'll buy it!

Well, I just bought the battery off the 2nd link...

Neither of them are real gel batteries (AGM) so I toke the cheapest one...

Now I just gotta wait for it.. 1 , 1 -1/2 weeks hopefully! :funmeterno:
