You can rebuild your xt engine

To all:
Just a little note, I purchased my first motorcycle last summer and it was an 1984 xt600. It had a few problems, hard starting, needed cosmetic work, and was blowing some smoke (burning oil). Sine last vear I have had the top and some of the bottom engine apart, for the purpose of a rebuild. The bearings on the bottom end were tight so I didn't split the transmission, I have cleaned the rotor and stator, checked the clutch (by measuring the plates and springs), had the valves cut and the seats, lapped the valves, had the cylinder and piston measured and the cylinder cleaned ready for new rings. I have been able to get the motor back together and in the motor is mounted in the frame. I have been able to get the motor starteds and had it running for about 20 minutes and she is purring like a kitten. Now I am in the process of looking over the wiring harness and I am going to do a pm on the forks and any thing else I can think of. The main reason for this thread is to say I have read quite afew post on here and the information is great so please keep the questions and answers going. Thanks Alot.:thumbup1::thumbup1:
