yamaha xtz660 tenere or honda xr650l

I am looking to buy one off these bikes.I can get both of them for reasonable prices.I am going to do a few europe trips next year but the big trip is one through africa and the end off next year.My partner is going to join me for the trips in europe but the africa one is alone.Which bike would fit the best for my situation. How good is the yamaha off road and will me and my girlfriend fit on the honda? Is this spesific yamaha very reliable?
Thanks

You must be joking. It's the most reliable bike in the world. Just make sure you have the new model voltage regulator [after 1994] and check the rubber that keeps the battery in place.
And if you go to africa, do yourself a favour and buy progressive front springs and an Ohlins rear shock. And a K&N air filter.
What was the other bike again?

Go for the 660, add some crash protection for Africa, liquid cooler!
If its an early model, control spokes on rear wheel, along with regulator.
There is a 660 "marathon" edition with 40L tank
, only made 1994 by sonauto\yamaha.
