oiltank drainbolt or crankcase drainbolt? (xt600e01)

In the maintainance section oil change in the owners manual it shows a figure of the oil tank drainbolt AND the crank case drain bolt. What confuses me is that the step by step right under the figure doesnt say to open the crank case drainbolt, it only says to open the oiltank drainbolt(the one in front in the frame),. Is the oiltank drainbolt the only bolt im supposed to drain oil from when doing an oil change?(with oilfilter etc.) Do I need to touch the crankcase drainbolt??

warm the bike up first, then drain the oil tank first using the bolt on the frame then drain the rest with the crank case bolt
usefull tip is lean the bike over from 1 side to the other a few times there is quite a bit of oil that sits in the casings and wont just drain out straight away

Thanks man

Somewhere i read that the oil pump will also be drained if you drain the crankcase but wont that receive oil when you filll it up? Like eventually..but after changin if i check the pressure and oil comes out of the that pressurecheck bolt all should be ok right?

the oil pump should still retain enough oil in its vanes to pump properly on start up, yes that check bolt on the filter housing is a bleed bolt and will confirm oil flow
the best thing to do is once you have re filled the oil tank is let it stand for a while before starting it up to let any air in the oil in that front down tube rise to the top and give the best flow of oil to the pickup
i always back fill the pump through the hole in the oil filter housing anyway and i also oil up the filter first too

Changed the oil filter and drained the beast completely. Now ive filled it up with 3Liters, first i filled up 2.6L and the tank showed full, but then i started and let it run for about a minute and then the tank seemed empty, i could see far down there. I figured it just spread the oil around to even it out so I filled on 0.4L so now ive filled in 3L. I just ran it again for like 30 sec and i still couldnt see any down in the tank.. Then i tested the bleed and the oil was pimping out after 15-20 sec. Im havin a break now to let the oil go where it wants to..

Ill try to put in 0.2 more Liters totalling 3.2L but if i dont see any down in the oiltank then im gona be scared.

Btw no leaks as i can see on the drainbolts..

Don 't overfill it! See numerous posts here about the correct way to check the level, and go by that. The recommended amount after a filter change is 2.8 litres, and you shouldn't have more than that in. Better too little, and fill it up gradually to the mark (say after a short run).

There's a gauze filter just below the frame drain plug, which can be cleaned out also.

if you get oil pumping out of that bleed screw and you have oil circulating through the engine you just need to keep toping up a little at a time mine took nearly 4ltr's of oil but mine was a full engine re-build so it was bone dry to start off with

Add about 2,9 ltr with filter, then ride it hot and THEN meassure the amount of oil.

My manual says 3,3ltr with complete engine overhaul.
