XTZ660 Tenere

Hi all

I have just had my bike serviced & after taking it for a long ride 100+ Klm I find that there is fresh oil over the skin pan & rear tyre. I checked all of the drain bolts & oil lines but all look fine. Where are the oil breather pipes? There looked like some oil in the air filter box drainer. Could ther be 'blowback' through the airbox? How? Does presure build up if the oil filter bleeding screw is not used?

any suggestions ?

thanks

Dunno about the XTZ660 but the XT600Z does just that. If there's (a) too much oil or (b) the pressure is too high, for example due to high oil temperature, it all ends up in the air filter box. I actually have a rather thick black hose on the right side coming from the engine (methinks... either that or the oil tank) straight into the air filter box. Assuming the XTZ660 does the same thing it is technically possible that they put in too much oil, which again is a rather frequent mistake.

Yep, my xt600e from '03 lets the "extra" oil into the airbox. Theres a tube to drain the airbox, its starts from the front, right hand side og the airbox, and goes down somewhere around the gear lever.

At least thats on mine.

But I've never had it spray all over the rear tyre and stuff like that.

Change oil yourself next time, it's really simple.
